A Guardian Home is an opportunity for you or someone you know to own a Duke City Doodle (free of charge) that will grow up to be a mama or papa for Duke City Doodles. We began this program in an effort to ensure that all our dogs live "family-pet" lives.
Here's how it works:
We select an interested family, and when the Guardian Home puppy is born and weaned from its mama, it goes to live with that family. It is then raised and cared for as their own. However, when the puppy-turned-dog becomes mature enough to breed, we will pick up the dog and do so. The dog will then return to the family while it grows the puppies and then returns back to us to birth and wean them (8-9 weeks). Once the pups are weaned, the dog returns to the Guardian Home until next breeding cycle.
When we have finished the breeding process (up to 4 litters for a female) with that dog, all rights of ownership are released to the Guardian Family and the dog is spayed or neutered.
Financial compensation is given for each litter to aid in the costs of ownership and as a "thank you" for allowing us to keep your dog for months at a time.
Our Guardian Homes have been an incredible blessing to Duke City Doodles and we simply could not have the quality dogs we have without them!
If this sounds like an opportunity you or someone you know may be interested in, please let us know by applying.
Guardian Homes must live in and intend to stay in the Albuquerque area.
